New birds. Cardinals.
Two words come to mind: wondrous and majestic.
As I was painting my mind wandered, as it often does...
Cardinals, Rome, the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo.
Years ago, as an art student studying in Italy,
we had a special art history lecture in the Vatican.
Can you imagine? Two hours. No tourists, no crowds, just us.
We laid down on our backs and looked up at the frescoes.
It was wondrous and majestic.
These birds are beautiful! I love how you have just a touch of pink in them too. And I get the influence - it's lovely, but it doesn't dominate or is heavy-handed in your piece at all. Just a hint of a nod toward your inspiration :)

ReplyDeleteIt was a once in a lifetime experience - at least eighteen years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday! I've been back since, but it was different, I was part of the crowd.
