Have you seen the documentary Man On Wire?
I just watched it last night. It's fabulous.
And it made me think...
yet they might not become anything for years.
They lie dormant in your mind,
on scraps of paper, in your sketchbook.
Waiting for just the right moment to grow into something,
to take hold, and rise up. Maybe it will happen today
or tomorrow or in six years,
like Philippe Petit's dream in Man On Wire.
A lovely post! I haven't seen that movie but I definitely will. Love the butterfly in your photos and the look into your notebook.
ReplyDeletei haven't seen it but it sounds intriguing! thanks for the post, holly!

ReplyDeletethat is an absolutely perfect post. thank you for it!!!
ReplyDeleteHello ladies! Thanks for stopping by. I think you will enjoy the documentary - it is a bit of a caper. Philippe Petit is quite a character and was so determined to make his dream happen - he was obsessed with his idea for years and he plotted and prepared and waited for the one and only opportunity for his grand performance.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't even heard of this movie..I'll have to check it out. I really love that first photo and these little seeds of thought. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kagan!
ReplyDeleteYes..have seen it. I do remember the day it was a big news story. Sad to think that the towers are no longer there. I have stood under them and looked up--the upper floors often disappeared into the clouds.
ReplyDeleteMimi, I know - it's still hard to believe that the buildings are gone and so many lives lost. I have wonderful memories of visiting wall street, the twin towers and dining at Windows on the World.
ReplyDeleteMan on Wire is one of my favorites, and I keep a photo of Philippe Petit (on wire, of course) tacked to the top of my desk. A great reminder to push the edges of your life.
ReplyDeletefloatingink, What a great idea and a great reminder.
ReplyDeletesorry holly! technical difficulties. didn't mean to delete my comment. anyway, just beautiful photos - i love the two with the open sketchbook. you sure do know how to create a mood!
ReplyDeletewelcome back caroline! thank you so much. I find I use my sketchbook less and less - but I would like to get back to it.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorite movies of all time. Seriously. Makes me cry every time I see it as well a makes me feel inspired. Love that it inspired you too!!
ReplyDeleteVivi - I cried too! I was also so nervous for him.
ReplyDeleteIt's always so wonderful to be allowed a peek into someone's sketch book. Lovely lovely pages.
ReplyDeleteMan on a Wire just happened to be on TV a couple of nights ago. I saw it at the cinema when it was released and thought it was incredible. On second viewing - it's even more incredible!!
