ReplyDeleteJust discovered the band Mumford & Sons and am (to put it mildly) obsessed. "The Banjolin Song" is a great love song and I'm digging "Winter Winds" too (maybe not so much a love song as a song about mortality, but, you know, po-tay-to/po-tah-to and all that).
wow, that is actually a really tough question since there are so many good songs about different types of love...
ReplyDeleteI do really love Emiliana Tourini's "Big Jumps" and also "Alison" by Elvis Costello
I'm sure that people will dispute that it's a love song but my heart is always opened when I hear Edith Piaf singing "Je ne regrette rien".

The song that immediately came to mind for me was "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel. I can't think of a more fundamental expression of love than being loved for who you are.
