Hi Cindy: It really depends on the weight of the paper. I don't tape down or stretch my small pieces and they can cockle because I use a lot of water. I have a dampening, slow drying process to flatten out the work once it is completed. If I use heavy, 300 Lb paper or a block of paper it usually dries flat. That said, I sometimes enjoy work that has a little wave in it, so it really can depend on the work too. I don't think it necessarily detracts from a piece of art.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: do you prestretch your paper so that your paintings lie flat when they're finished? Or is having flat finished work even a concern?
