Studio | Sneak Peek

Studio | my new migration painting
Here's a little sneak peek at my new, super large, 18 x 24 inch migration in blue!
I hope to finish it early next week.

P.S. I've taken the plunge and joined Pinterest
The invitation has been sitting in my in box since February.
I don't know how I resisted for this long. Now I fear I'm completely addicted!
Have a great weekend all!

Fungi

fungi
There's a fungus among us! A new painting in my shop today.
Found some lovely mushrooms by the side of the road and I was inspired.
I always seem to find ways to procrastinate when I'm working on a big painting.
I'm working on a super large 18 x 24 inch bird migration painting.
Perhaps a sneak peek tomorrow. I don't want to jinx it.

Hour of Birds

hour of birds
Some thing that fly there be,
Birds, Hours, the Bumblebee,
Of these no elegy.

Some things that stay there be,
Grief, Hills, Eternity,
Nor this behooveth me.

There are that resting, rise.
Can I expound the skies?
How still the riddle lies!

Today feels like any other day. Except for one thing: today I am forty.
Where did the time go?

My Home Away From Home

my new studio space
The Golly Bard studio had officially moved about two hundred feet from home.
The commute is killing me. Just kidding! I love walking to work and being so close to home.

trees in progress
My dear friends who own an interior design studio in a beautifully restored church offered me this great opportunity and I jumped at the chance. It's wonderful to work in the company of such creative people.
The natural light is fabulous for painting and I couldn't be happier.

palette and trees
I'm still settling in and organizing my things, but I started working right away.
Two large forests of trees will be in my shop for the weekend.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Bee Eater No. 2

Here today, gone tomorrow. Such is the case with this latest painting.
This fine fellow hardly had time to make his debut when he was snatched up.
Parting is such sweet sorrow.

I've been packing up my studio. I'm getting ready to move into a shared space with friends.
I'm really excited about it! It's a big change in my work routine and
I love working from home, but I have totally outgrown my workspace.
Luckily, I'm not going far. Just around the corner.

Happy Friday!

To Be or Not to Be

to be or not to be

bee eater

I'm reading a book, The Hummingbird Cabinet, about the history of romantic collectors.
That hazy time period when people were so very curious about their existence;
Preserving and keeping little bits ephemera and evidence of life in everything.
Specimen collecting was at its height and wasn't yet a well formed science.
I completely relate to the sensibilities of that time.

Exhibition | Enormous Tiny Art

Enormous Tiny Art Show 10
So pleased to be a part of this amazing extravaganza of tiny art!
I painted a collection of keyholes for the occasion. You can see them here.
I will not be able to attend the reception, however do stop by if you are in the area!
