This perfect little robin was lying on the ground outside my gate.
It is a beautiful specimen of nature. I had to take a closer look.

  1. hmm. It's kind of like he set himself right down there for you to study.

  2. Holly, we are so alike. I have bits and bobs of nature stashed everywhere; I need to get a glass cabinet and display my own curiosity cabinet. My last find, was roadrunner feet.

  3. Wow, what a study. I find it so inspiering to see all the pictures from the nature around you as well as your paintings. Here it's been snow all winter and I am so much looking forward to the Spring. Take care!

  4. Thanks all! I'm glad I haven't scared you away with my most recent find! It's just such a great opportunity to study the tiny details.

  5. This is one of those things where I cringe when I first notice the poor thing then I get intrigued by the shape, color, lines and want to investigate. This morning out local public radio had a story you might find intersting (http://www.kuow.org/post/found-dead-bird-science-could-use-it). I didn't know there were places to take dead birds and facilities where specimens may be checked out by scientists and artists. Fascinating!
