Land Shells

These are certainly not shells from the sea.
I found these cicada shells on my fence post. 
They are covered in dirt.

The newly emerged cicadas left them behind. 
I can hear them buzzing in the trees on this hot summer day.

I love these when I find these - even though we ahve a lot of cicadas every year I never find their nymph shells. Love them.
