Tardy

great horned owl specimen
It has been entirely too long since my last post. Will you forgive my tardiness?
Between travel and moving my studio things have been a tad chaotic for the last few weeks.
I'm finally settled and all put back together again. Everything is organized and put away.
I will have pictures of my new studio space soon.
Meanwhile, here's a picture of my Great Horned Owl specimen.
He's finally finished and quite pleased with himself.

He is beautiful, I love every feather :)
Where did you get your paint palette? I love it!

Norma: thank you! I'll post a picture soon. It's a pretty space.

Caitlin: It's a pike palette - I've had mine for over twenty years. It's nice and big and has a cover. Most fine art stores and catalogs sell it. Here is a link: http://www.johnpikeartprod.com/Reg_Pal.htm

Your owl is gorgeous! Incredible detail! May I ask how long it took to do that?

Barb: thank you so much!

Mary: I worked on it little by little over the last month.

Wow..he is so beautiful. I love the details. Do you have any advice for people who know nothing about watercolor but would like to start?

Elisa: My advice is to buy the best materials. Splurge on paint, paper, brushes. It will make all the difference in the world. You can order catalogs or shop online from Dick Blick, Daniel Smith, Pearl Paint, or Utrecht. Have fun. Don't make just one precious painting, Make a bunch! Experiment! Make a mess. Make mistakes. I promise you'll only get better!
