Outside In

living with plants
I think it's essential to bring the outside in and live with plants.
Especially in the fall and winter seasons when a little bit of greenery is so welcome.

Just a few plants, unless you were blessed with a green thumb,
in which case, do you have any tips for me?
It's a challenge to keep them alive.  I'm a plant killer, you see.
This year I've brought in my angel vine topiaries, succulents and my bay tree.

Every year I give them a little pep talk:
Just hold on a few months and you can go back outside again.
I promise to water you and find a sunny spot. I really do.
Do you bring the outside in?

I love your plants, they are beautiful! I have one house plant, but i live right in the middle of the bush, so i'm literally surrounded by trees. YES - very grateful. I love houseplants though. I love your idea of bringing them inside. Can you see them smiling? :)

Louise: It sounds like a magical place!

I haven't brought any outside in yet, but I think I will invest in a nice houseplant. At the moment the outside is so wild it's threatening to come in on its own anyway!

Here is a tip. Logee's Greenhouse, out of Connecticut, has the most wonderful selection of plants. How about vanilla orchid (yes that vanilla) or citrus trees that you barely have to do anything to. Meyer lemons will make your house smell great, you'll get lemons and they can go out to full sun in the spring. You can't go wrong. Unless, you get hooked on edible plants like me, then you'll have to build a greenhouse...

I love plants & have them throughout my house. I bring in my geraniums & they bloom in the winter in my sun room. My weakness is orchids.

Sasha: Yes, do. At least one! hope the storm has passed.

Donna: Thanks for the tips! A meyer lemon tree reminds me of my Nana's house. A greenhouse sounds divine.

Carol: I love orchids too! It's been a while since I've treated myself to one!

They look content and thriving- you must have some green in your thumbs after all..xx

Annamaria: Very lightly green. I wouldn't show a picture in January, when they are barely hanging on! I'm much better with outdoor plants. :)

OH YES! I have to bring the outside in, as my world is covered with snow for 6-7 months of the year. I have as many inside plants as I can, but I also bring in rocks and sticks, and any other nature bits that call out to me. Your plants look so lovely!

I've tried bringing my succulents in, but it didn't work. I was told at the neighboring greenhouse to leave them out.... I've done that ever since, and they come back wonderfully. I can't seem to bring in herbs either. Some flowering plants in pots do come in okay for me, and flower a bit all winter. Hit n' miss!
