holly-- i just love seeing the finds you've gathered up on your walks-- the snakeskin, the little green guy, the pods, all so dear. you are a consummate observer!
..do you happen to know what the translucent pods are that look a bit like paper lanterns?-- i have a few in my stash--but have never known what they're called or what plant they're from... i love the delicate skins they have and their forms are so wonderful!
as always i'm loving your latest works--!
cheers
k

Kathi, funny you should ask. I was going to try to research and find out. They are small lantern shaped pods - slightly smaller than a quarter. I found them close to the ground, however the field was recently bushhogged and the pods may have had a longer stem.

Treasures - and they each illustrate the season so quietly. Keep sharing - love these posts.

So delicate and pretty :)

We have orange paper lanterns here, they're called ground cherries. I imagine they're similar to these, but a different variety.

And the little orange-winged fellow is a Crescent Butterfly (there are many similar crescents, I'm not sure which one it is).

Any plans to paint some little paper lanterns like these? :)

Caitlin, thank you for the information! I may try to paint them. I think I'll look at them for a while. the little moth already landed in a painting.

Jacilyn, thank you, I think so too!

Have a lovely evening!
