I Loved His Style

What People Might Think
detail from mourners painting

“I think it’s important to look at death if it comes under the word macabre because I think that it is part of life. I’ve always been fascinated by the Victorian period of death where they used to take pictures of the dead. It’s not about brushing it under the carpet like we do today. It’s about celebrating someone’s life. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I think it’s a very sad thing, a melancholic thing. It’s a very romantic thing because it means the end of a cycle. Everything has an end. The cycle of life is a positive thing because it gives room for new things to come.”  Alexander McQueen

How I loved his theatrical style.
He will be missed.

He left an indelible mark on the fashion world. I absolutely adored his collections. They were always such spectacular extravaganzas.

He was a creative imaginative and original. They say a week towards his mother had died and could not cope. In his words is that it was a melancholy person. The feeling of melancholy is not good to let us invade, I prefer the joy of life.

Ana, Thank you so much for visiting. I read that too. The devastation must have been too much for him. He was an extraordinary designer. Very sad indeed.

wow holly, this is an impactful post. A.M's death has made me think of David Foster Wallace who was a similar force in literature and took his own life at a similar age. Its so sad to see them go.

Marchi, It is so very sad. I found this quote from an interview he made about his work. It made me wonder if art and life can be separate or are they inextricably tied together?
