Down and Out

Downton Abbey devotees have been sulking here in the US for over a week, 

much like our friends across the pond, with the astonishing end to season three. 

My mother cheered us up with these delightful sugar cookies from her local bakery, Le Bakers Dozen.

I ate them all in a momentary lapse of reason and now I feel even worse!

Happy Birthday, Cowboy!

 

Our Cowboy is one year old today!  Hasn't he turned out to be a handsome lad?

This is one of my favorite pictures of Cowboy in the feed bowl with his litter mates!

Just days old. It's hard to believe he was this tiny once!

One of my favorite songs by Ella Fitzgerald is the Cow Cow Boogie,

so fitting for our little Cow Cow. Get along little doggie!

Bird Buffet

I'm ready for the weekend, are you? The weather has been so fitful this week.

We started with a bit of snow, then a deluge of rain, cold winds and more snow again today.

The birds have been thoroughly enjoying their buffet in this ever changing mix of weather. 

They've been my entertainment all week. We've had oodles of cardinals and goldfinches, 

dark eyed juncos, tufted titmice, wrens, sparrows, black-capped chickadees 

nuthatches and assorted woodpeckers. Their tiny tracks in the snow are precious.
