Snakes

This has been the summer of snakes.
In the trees, sunning on the rocks, in my dreams,
and sadly in my nesting boxes. I can't seem to escape them.
Nature is so curious and so cruel at times.

Well Holly you've done it again.
These images are truly transfixing.
I must admit snakes are my all-time worst nightmare but I will say that the skin-patterns have always fascinated me and you've captured this so well.
I hope that they slink and slither away from your birdies and mice sooner rather than later though.

Felicity, I was heartbroken for my little wrens when a snake got into their nesting box. It was tragic.

Hi Holly,

These are utterly and fascinatingly beautiful.

And only a few weeks ago while at the park I saw a huge gopher snake with a yellow and brown pattern. It was right by the creek and then as it slithered away into the bushes I came up upon a little injured mouse not but a few steps away. Your painting so reminded me of this moment because I think I may have interupted the snake on the way to his dinner.

I appreciate the fact that your artwork explores the complete "circle of life." Nature has to make sacrifices to continue.

Such is life but absolutely great images Golly! My garden patio often has a row of 'sleeping' rodents left for me in the morning courtesy of the feline lodgers :(

These are lovely, Holly, and yes, it's sometimes not fair, but that's nature for you...

Holly, such splendid watercolors ! The beauty of nature, this little uroboros-like...

Cendrine, I hadn't consciously thought of an ouroboros symbol and yet it does have that circular, cyclical image of infinity and renewal.
