Monday Map

A map for Monday.
While I love making lists and charting a course.
I don't like to over do it,  plan too much, go too far.

Writing things down is only a way to get started
and shake the ideas out of my head.
Thinking too much and not doing becomes premature editing.

I strongly believe in making a lot of work in order to make things work.
People write to me a lot and ask for guidance and advice,
and the first thing I tell them is to work, work, work.
Keep the momentum going.

Beautiful!
I am a habitual list maker, also. It helps so much to keep my wandering brain on track. :)

Yes, I need to work on being more consistent with working a bit everyday on something creative. Great advice!

I love your drawing...and your calligraphy is rather dreamy. So envious of your talent.

Lovely daydreamings on paper!

And, I think you're right about work work working... I try to always keep something on the go, it really helps stave off morning procrastination when you know that you don't have to start anything new if you don't feel like it. And working on a thing gives ideas for new projects, so I find it's good to have a few things stashed away on the back burner.

Your advice should be my motto for the year. Gotta keep that momentum going! Love it :)

Great post! You have such a beautiful approach to sharing your day-to-day with a bit of ethics.

I like this post very much. And you're absolutely right with what you said. "Art is beautiful but a lot of work" like Karl Valentin, probably the first (ancient) german comedian said.

Oh, I'm so glad this post was helpful. It's always a challenge and sometimes I need that little reminder too.

Amen! Your words ring true dear Golly Bard. Noses down, pencils up and work hard. If only the Australian summer didn't make me feel like lying around reading books and sucking on icy-poles.

I couldn't agree more! When I'm working I'm happy and satisfied. Lack of activity is a breeding ground for frustration :)

jodii, ha! I would gladly trade my tea breaks for icy pops! I'm just as easily distracted.

Vivienne, Indeed, it's true.

I love your sketches! This post really speaks to me because doing more and thinking less has been my primary focus lately. I like how you relate thinking too much without working to 'premature editing'. When we think too much without doing that magic of inspiration doesn't always carry through. Thanks for your thoughts!!
