Studio | Quail

I've been revisiting the brambles and thickets filled with tangled vines and dead wood.
This plump little quail just landed in my shop! A harbinger of fall days ahead.

Really a great one! So nice and amiable! You make doing these birds seem so easy but it is a delicate piece piece of work, i assume.

Maike: I try not to have any expectations with each new painting and simply let things happen.

This is beautiful Holly. You have such a great sense of pattern/color- I just read your watercolor 101 series. I love the last part where you talk more about your own processes. Thank you for sharing it all.

Thank you, Annamaria. I so enjoy reading about your process and may i say you maintain such a steady and disciplined schedule with your work!

I always love your colours! Do you make a palet before you start painting?

This imakes my heart beat faster! I adore it. Sorry to get all gushy on it. I second the comments above about the 101 series. Seeing your partially completed work really helps with an idea of how the process works. It's so inspiring. I hope it's not presumptuous but I have linked to your blog from my newby one here http://smallacts.co.nz/ Kindest, Jennifer
