Listen

It occurred to me today that I have no road map for where I am going,
I am just compelled to make paintings more than anything else.
This morning I was looking for an out of print book, Life Is Paradise,
when I stumbled on this great interview with one of my
favorite artists, Francesco Clemente. It is so insightful.
If you have a moment click here to listen
I'm not sure he has a road map either.

Very interesting- thank you for the link Holly- I liked so much of what he was saying-like when he was asked how a painter finds his voice and he said:'you make room'...and later when he concluded by saying the best thing for a painter is to 'cultivate vulnerablility'-
Great stuff, thank you-
Annamaria

He said so many great things and I adore his work. Embrace the shadows. I like that. I saw his retrospective at the Guggenheim years ago. It's my favorite museum. The spiral, the large view and the intimacy of the niches.

I dont think you're alone in not having a plan.. I dont think I have one either! :) (isnt it better that way anyway?)

Yes. My head is filled with ideas but I don't really plan the actual work. Most of the time I start painting and let things happen. I walk away a lot because watercolor is unforgiving.

I'm with you. Plans are difficult to follow when inspiration strikes. I like to think I have more of goals without a timeline!
