Priya: It all started with Amphigorey, which I found in a used book store when I was a freshman in college. I was hooked.

Oh I LOVE Edward Gorey. I have a signed copies of The Gashlycrumb Tinies and Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. His illustrations have rocked my world since the opening credits of Mystery on PBS.

Golly! The line is everything hey? That's what I think of when I think of Gorey. Never mind the original thought behind the line! I love your lines. And your photography. The thought behind it all. Have a splendid day for yourself!

Boredom! Perhaps your birds need to spread their wings and fly.

He is my absolute favorite too. I first remember seeing his work as a kid at 9pm (when I was supposed to be in bed) and my mom was watching Mystery on PBS. Have you seen the beginning of that show? He illustrated the credits and opening. The damsel in distress laying atop the tombstone....his quirky way of looking at things. When I met my husband he saw that I had the Gashlycrumb Tinies poster (the alphabet of children perishing in fitful ways) and he said he thought twice before marrying me. Oops. I want to go to his house up on the Cape, apparently you can tour it (without the cats!).

Beth: Oh, you made me laugh. Yes, I remember mystery. I had the gashlycrumb tinies poster too! I think I saved it. I'd love to go to Elephant House - perhaps we should road trip up there one summer!
