A Closer Look | Polyphemus Moth

A giant Polyphemus Moth found outside our little Upperville Post Office.
Such a beauty with a wingspan of five, maybe six inches.
He's in perfect condition too. So many of the butterflies and moths
I've seen lately have shredded wings from birds attacking them.
This fellow was probably spared because of his eye spots,
which help to scare away predators.

Wao ! How lucky you are to have encountered such a beautiful moth. Very inspiring for the naturalist that you are.
Here, in the region of Paris we do not have this kind of butterfly. The rare moths existing will finish quickly in the street lamps.
I wish you a nice weekend.

Golly Holly! That is spectacular and beautiful. Now that our Melbourne weather is warming up I am keen to go looking too. Thanks for showing it.

Thank you for identifying this moth. A couple of weeks ago, I found one of this moths wings and I had no idea what I had. Your work is so beautiful and inspiring.
