Studio | Ring Necks

I don't really like taking pictures of work in progress.
The work seems so bare, unfinished, unresolved.
Nevertheless, most of the time, this is how I begin,
without a real plan or line to follow.
I mix a soupy mess of paint and lay down some washes.
I walk away, let things settle, and think about what to do next.
I hold my breath a lot, because it can go well
or land in the garbage bin at any point.
All I know is I have pheasants on my brain, ring necks.
I'm working on a pair of them. They are quite large.
Will you ever see them? I'm hopeful.
They are much further along now.
Maybe by the weekend.
I can't promise anything yet.

But I love seeing works in progress! And this looks so beautiful. I like all the rich shades you are using.

It doesn't look like a work in progress in the least. It looks fully resolved with its divine blend of tones and transparency.

Helen, Heidi, Shelby, thank you stopping by. It's completely transformed - you know how I love patterns. Pictures will be my greatest challenge.

It is strangely comforting to know that all artists go through a process of uncertainty when creating a picture. I love seeing work in progress, so thank you for sharing this picture with us.
